How to save on food with few simple tips

There are several tips, if you want to know how to save on food?! They helped me a lot but it took some time until I got the hang of it, while turning to good foods and healthy lifestyle.

Although clean foods can be a little bit more expensive, it is still possible to have healthy diet and not to go bankrupt. If I could, I would go to the past and informed myself about these tips which would saved me some money and solved a couple of my financial problems. 

HOW TO SAVE ON FOOD WITH THESE TIPS

Sales and discounts. This is the best way to save some money on heart healthy foods. Although big supermarkets have lower prices in comparison to small shops in your neighborhood, they aren't all equal. Visit some of them and find out which ones have sales or special discounts on foods you buy.

Info websites. Some websites regulary track the price of foods for one particular area or even a whole country. With the help of internet, you don't need to visit supermarkets, you can see the stats with one click of a mouse. If you live in Croatia such as myself, check this site.

Coupons and cards. After you find your favorite supermarket with good prices and customer service, look if they have some kind of coupons or customer cards for additional discounts for regular customers. These can save you a lot of money, if you buy food from them regulary.

Plan ahead. Want to know how to save on food by making a plan and organizing your diet? Well, besides opting for good cheap foods, you should also determine approximal amount of food you'll eat in the next week or two and you should make a list of foods you mean to buy.

Don't spend your money on crap. If you really need some sweets, don't buy a lot of it, make sure its relativly cheap and that it has at least someting good about it. For instance, chocolate should have at least 20 % cacao in it, while chips made from peanuts should provide at least 11 grams of protein per 100 grams of product.

Prioritize. Find your main cheap healthy foods that don't cost much but are highly nutritious. For instance, apples, spinach and carrots for fiber, vitamins and minerals, cottage cheese and some whole eggs for protein as well as whole grain bread for complex carbs and healthy fats. You can also add citrus fruits, other vegetables and lean cuts of meat that are on sale.

Don't throw away the food. Lets say you buy 1 kg of cottage cheese and 8 pounds of apples but you eat only half of that. In the meantime, the other half of apples becomes rotten, while shelf life of cottage cheese expires and you have to throw them away. How to save on food, if you throw your money like that. Don't put yourself in this position.

Buy in bulk. Buying some foods in bulk such as raisins, nuts, almonds, popcorns, papaya, pineapple, dried cranberries and beans is usually cheaper than buying it in standard package.

Cook enough food for next two - three days. Cooking enough food for next two - three days can save you time, food and money. For instance making a meal made of beans, brown rice, mushrooms and adding some spinach, broccoli, spices, olive oil and a little bit of meat will provide you enough healthy carbs, fats, protein as well as minerals and vitamins.

Don't buy sodas, drink water. Besides being harmful, full of sugar,  causing weight gain and health problems, sodas are also unnecessary expense. Although it is okay to drink some fruit juice, beer or glass of red wine, from time to time, water should be your main source of liquids. It's clean, healthy and free of charge.
